Tips For Basic Photography
Every one of us should have some basic photography skills, because it’s more than possible that during one of the family reunions or anniversaries you’ll be asked to take photos for the family album.
You would like to look like a professional, wouldn’t you? The best way to do it is to take decent photos. Here are some tips for getting basic photography skills that may be useful for you:
- If you have shaky hands, find a tripod. This way you won’t have to ask people to stand still for ten minutes, so that the photo doesn’t come out blurred.
- If you can’t find a tripod anywhere, lean against a wall or a table. Remember that even the shutter itself may shake the camera and produce blurry shots. That’s why you have to press the button very gently.
- If you like taking portraits of different people, the first and most important thing that you have to pay attention to is the division of space in the photo. This means that in most cases the subject must occupy 85 percent of the portrait, while the background should take only 15 percent of the space. This is a basic technique that a lot of people use, but it doesn’t mean that you should limit yourself with math. You are always welcome to experiment.
- The flash is a very useful thing, but you have to know when to use it. Try not to use it indoors, as it makes the skin color unnatural. As a result people in your photos will look like wax figures. The flash works great when shooting outdoors, especially when the person is in a shady place.
- Play around with the ISO settings (these settings define the camera’s sensitivity to light). If you want to shoot with a fast shutter speed, use higher ISO settings. But remember that in this case less light is required, and this may produce noise.
These are very simple rules that you have to follow. After some practice you’ll not even pay attention to them as they will become reflexes.
