Olympus PEN E-PL1 Micro Four Thirds
On February 3, Olympus announced the release of a new digital Olympus camera–the Olympus PEN E-PL1. The camera measures 4.5 x 2.8 x 1.63 inches, has a 2.7-inch 230K LCD screen and a 12.3 megapixel resolution.
The camera stands out in its simple, yet cool retro design. It does not have any extraordinary or outstanding external design features, and it’s neither surprisingly small and thin, nor modern and stylish.
When I take a glance at this camera, the first thing that strikes my eye is its strength and durability. Taken together these design features hint about the high quality and professionalism of the camera.
The feature that make this camera stand out is the Micro Four Thirds system, that may be found only on Olympus and Panasonic cameras. This system is designed to make the imaging process simpler, but at the same time ensure high quality photos, without the use of a mirror as found in DSLR cameras. Due to this feature the camera is much lighter, has the ability to work with eleven interchangeable lenses and the photos are noise and blur free.
Olympus PEN E-PL1 has a number of other distinctive features and specifications, which make photography even more interesting and enjoyable. Among them are:
- Live Guide–This feature allows you to take photos more easily and get the desired result. You can easily change the brightness of the photo or highlight particular objects.
- Pop-up flash–The included flash will give your photos a better and more natural illumination and will also reduce red eye.
- 6 Art Filters–With the help of these in-camera filters you will be able to customize your photos before you print them.
- iEnhance–This feature allows you to take true-to-life photos. It makes the play of colors more natural, transmitting the real copy of the colorful, amazing scene you are photographing directly to your camera.
With this camera you will be able also to make wonderful, interesting and creative slideshows with sounds tracks, due to its playback functions.
The Olympus PEN E-PL1 is now available with a 14-42 mm lens for around $600. Various accessories for this digital Olympus camera, like cases, USB cables, batteries, flashes and housings for underwater photos, are also available at the official Olympus website.
Taking into consideration all the above-mentioned specifications, you can draw a conclusion that it’s an all-in-one camera, designed to meet your expectations every time and everywhere.
