Many of us have fears concerning a digital waterproof camera, as they are thought not to be that reliable when it comes to shooting quality and shock resistance.

However, the models below prove that opinion is wrong. And in general, waterproof cameras have developed both hardware and software quality during the last few years, and there is no need for worries.

1. Pentax Optio W90 — This digital Pentax camera is not only waterproof up to 20 feet, but it is also shockproof (up to four feet), dust proof and  cold proof (14°F). Maybe these features aren’t really outstanding (compared to some other digital cameras), but the underwater image quality covers all minuses.

This Optio digital camera offers a 12.1 megapixel sensor, 2.7 inch LCD, LED lens lighting, ISO settings that range from 80 to 6400. The optical zoom is 5x, and the camera can record 1280 x 720 pixel high definition videos. It also provides a mini HDMI output for direct playback on an HDTV or a monitor. The price ranges from $260 to $330.

2. Canon PowerShot D10 — toughness and durability are common features for all digital Canon cameras. PowerShot D10 is not an exception. It demonstrates all the features expected from a Canon compact camera – 12.1 megapixel sensor, 3x optical zoom,  waterproof up to 33 feet, shockproof up to four feet, cold proof up to 14°F.

The design of this digital waterproof camera is also worth speaking about. It’s funny, “happy” and has a great color combination for a waterproof camera.

A number of unique accessories (personal valets, photo papers, interchangeable faceplate) make this digital photo camera even more desired. The price is $257 – $300.
